All Downtown Works members are required to carry insurance for the full length of their membership term.
Required Coverage
Commercial general liability insurance
Business personal property (contents) insurance
Any other insurance appropriate to your business
Private Office members may be required to carry additional coverage as specified by Downtown Works. Downtown Works may also require that it, its affiliates, and the property landlord be named as additional insureds, and that your policy waive the insurer's subrogation rights against Downtown Works and the landlord.
Workers' Compensation
If you have employees, you must maintain workers' compensation insurance with statutory benefits under California law, plus employer's liability insurance appropriate to your business.
Proof of Coverage
You must provide proof of coverage upon request.
Missing Insurance Fee
If you don't maintain the required insurance, or don't provide proof when requested, Downtown Works may charge a Missing Insurance Fee on your invoice until you provide proof of coverage. Paying this fee doesn't replace the requirement to actually carry insurance β you're still responsible for obtaining proper coverage.
Business Tools Through TriNet
Downtown Works partners with TriNet to offer members payroll, benefits, and risk & compliance services, which can help you meet these requirements.
