Network Speeds
Every Downtown Works location runs on dual gigabit fiber lines for bandwidth and redundancy. On WiFi, members see average speeds of 100/100 Mbps, and guests see average speeds of 25/25 Mbps. Actual speed can vary by device. Contact support if your business needs higher bandwidth.
Network Redundancy
Each location has a primary and backup circuit from two different providers, so service continues if one connection has an issue.
Security
Our network uses enterprise-grade infrastructure with an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and requires authentication (login credentials or MAC address registration) before a device can access the network.
Private Networks
Members needing a private, segmented network can request a Private VLAN configuration for Ethernet-connected equipment β workstations, servers, printers, and similar.
VoIP
Most VoIP solutions work on our network; basic setups are typically plug-and-play, though some require provider-side configuration. We also offer VoIP handsets and apps for a monthly fee. We're not responsible for call quality (QoS) issues on third-party VoIP services.
Equipment Hosting
Select locations offer IT room space to host your equipment for an additional fee, subject to power, cooling, and space availability. Contact your Community Manager to check availability at your location.
What Affects Network Performance
Speed and reliability can be affected by network congestion, device type, VPN use, and physical obstacles in the building.
